Indian Rock Bee Honey (Apis dorsata) is a large honey bee native to South and South-east Asia. They are very aggressive in protecting their hive which are built on rocky cliffs or on huge trees or on big building in cityscapes. Being 1.5-2 cms and a painful sting, it requires special skills to harvest them. The tribals of India know when to harvest honey from these hive, which is usually twice in year. The first or the main season after the spring showers which is usually May-June, and the second season during the Deepavali time (October-November).
Avoid feeding this honey to infants below two years.
